Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 2 3/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 1/2 cups white sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
For Rolling
  • 1/4 cup sugar for rolling

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.
  3. In a larger bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until well combined.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet mixture, blending until just combined.
  6. Roll the dough into balls about 1 inch in diameter and roll each ball in sugar until fully coated.
Baking
  1. Place the coated balls on ungreased baking sheets.
  2. Bake for about 8 to 10 minutes, or until edges are lightly golden but centers remain soft.
  3. Let cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack.

Notes

Chill the dough for at least 30 minutes for chewier cookies. Use parchment paper on baking sheets to prevent sticking.
