Ingredients
  

For the Bars
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Use Halal-certified butter for Halal-friendly option.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar Can substitute with coconut sugar for caramelized flavor.
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon cream of tartar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon sugar (for topping) Sprinkle on top before baking.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly grease or line a 9×13 inch baking pan with parchment paper.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar together until light and fluffy.
  4. Beat in the eggs one at a time and then mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, baking soda, cream of tartar, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry mix to the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
  7. Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan, spreading it evenly.
  8. Sprinkle cinnamon sugar evenly over the top of the batter.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean or with a few crumbs.
  2. Allow the bars to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  3. Once cool, cut into squares and enjoy!

Notes

Store at room temperature in an airtight container for up to 5 days, or freeze tightly wrapped for up to 3 months. Reheat in microwave for 10-15 seconds.
