Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups cherries (pitted) Use ripe, sweet cherries for best flavor.
  • 1 cup sugar Adjust sweetness according to the tartness of the cherries.
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice

Method

Preparation
  1. Wash the cherries thoroughly and remove the pits.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine sugar and water. Heat over medium until sugar dissolves to create syrup.
  3. In a blender, add pitted cherries and lemon juice. Pour in the warm cherry syrup and blend until smooth.
  4. Transfer the cherry mixture into a bowl and let it cool to room temperature, or refrigerate for about 30 minutes.
Churning and Freezing
  1. If using an ice cream maker, pour the cooled cherry mixture into it and churn as per the manufacturer's instructions.
  2. If not using an ice cream maker, pour the mixture into a shallow dish and place it in the freezer.
  3. After 1 hour, stir the mixture with a fork to break up any ice. Repeat this every 30 minutes for about 2-3 hours until smooth.
Serving
  1. Once set, scoop the Cherry Sorbet into bowls and enjoy.

Notes

Store Cherry Sorbet in an airtight container in the freezer for up to 2 weeks. If too hard, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before scooping. Stir well after longer storage to regain texture.
