  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a blend) You can use your favorite cheese blend.
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or non-dairy alternatives)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • to taste fresh herbs (optional, such as rosemary or parsley) Sprinkle on top of the dough if using.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt. Stir until well mixed.
  3. Fold in the shredded cheese, ensuring it is evenly distributed throughout the dry mixture.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk and olive oil until fully combined.
  5. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredient bowl. Mix gently until just combined, careful not to over-mix.
  6. On a lightly floured surface, shape the dough into a round loaf about 1-2 inches thick.
  7. If using, sprinkle fresh herbs on top of the dough and press them in slightly.
  8. Place the loaf on a parchment-lined baking sheet and bake for 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  9. Allow the cheese bread to cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Experiment with different cheese varieties and add spices like crushed red pepper or garlic powder for extra flavor. Store leftovers wrapped tightly at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerated for up to a week. For freezing, cut into slices and wrap individually.
