Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and garlic powder until well blended.
- Add the cubed cold butter into the flour mixture. Using a pastry cutter or your fingers, incorporate the butter until the mixture resembles coarse cbs.
- Stir in the shredded cheddar cheese until evenly distributed throughout the dry mixture.
- In a separate bowl, mix the milk and melted butter together.
- Gradually pour the milk mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; you want it to remain fluffy!
- Transfer the dough onto a lightly floured surface. Knead gently and shape it into a loaf.
- Arrange the loaf in a greased baking dish.
- Pop your baking dish into the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden and a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Once out of the oven, brush the top with melted butter. Garnish with freshly chopped parsley, if desired.
- Let your loaf cool for a few minutes, then slice and serve warm!
Notes
Use cold butter for a flakier texture. You can experiment with different cheese types such as Gruyère or mozzarella.
