Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease and lightly flour two round 9-inch cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Set aside.
- In another bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together until light and fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, ensuring each is fully incorporated.
- Gradually add the dry mixture and buttermilk to the wet mixture, alternating, starting and ending with dry. Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Evenly divide the batter between the prepared cake pans.
Cooking
- Place the pans in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.
Serving
- Once cooled, layer the cakes with your favorite frosting or whipped cream and fruits, if desired.
- Slice and serve to your guests!
Notes
Ensure butter and eggs are at room temperature for easier mixing. Avoid overmixing when combining wet and dry ingredients.
