Ingredients
  

Pastry and Filling
  • 2 sheets puff pastry Ensure they are Halal-compliant.
  • 2 pieces apples, peeled and diced About half an inch pieces.
  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce Ensure it's Halal-certified.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 tablespoon sugar
  • 1 piece egg (for egg wash)

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a bowl, toss the diced apples with cinnamon and sugar until well coated.
  3. On a floured surface, roll out each sheet of puff pastry into a rectangle and cut each sheet into four equal squares.
  4. In the center of each pastry square, place a spoonful of caramel sauce and top it with the apple mixture.
  5. Fold the pastry squares diagonally to create triangles, pressing the edges to seal securely.
  6. Beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the turnovers.
Baking
  1. Place the turnovers on a lined baking sheet and bake for about 20 minutes, or until golden brown.
  2. Allow to cool slightly before serving. Drizzle with additional caramel sauce if desired.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat in an oven preheated to 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
