Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine 1 cup of all-purpose flour, 1/2 cup of softened butter, and 1/4 cup of brown sugar. Mix until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Press half of the crust mixture into a greased tart pan to form the base.
  4. Distribute 2 cups of sliced apples evenly over the crust.
Making the Topping
  1. In another bowl, mix 1/2 cup oats, 1/2 cup brown sugar, 1 teaspoon cinnamon, and 1/2 cup of flour.
  2. Add melted butter to create a crumbly streusel. Sprinkle generously over the apples.
  3. Drizzle 1/2 cup of caramel sauce over the streusel.
Baking
  1. Bake in the oven for approximately 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the caramel is bubbly.
  2. Allow to cool before slicing. Serve warm with extra caramel or ice cream.

Notes

Use a combination of tart and sweet apples for the best flavor. Consider adding nutmeg or chopped nuts to the topping for a twist. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to five days or freeze for up to two months.
