Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 2 cups Assorted fruits (such as orange peel, cherries, and pineapple) Feel free to mix and match seasonal fruits.
  • 1.5 cups Sugar
  • 1 cup Water
  • 2 tablespoons Lemon juice Brightens flavors and prevents browning.

Method

Preparation
  1. Begin by washing and peeling the fruits as needed. For harder fruits like pineapple, cut them into small, bite-sized pieces for easier cooking.
Making the Syrup
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine water and sugar over medium heat. Stir until the sugar has completely dissolved and the mixture starts to bubble gently.
Adding Lemon Juice
  1. Once the syrup is ready, add the lemon juice to brighten the flavors and prevent the fruits from browning.
Cooking the Fruit
  1. Carefully add your assorted fruits to the sugar syrup. Ensure they are submerged completely in the syrup.
  2. Allow them to cook for approximately 15–20 minutes, or until they become translucent and the syrup thickens slightly.
Cooling and Storage
  1. Using a slotted spoon, remove the candied fruits from the syrup and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Let them cool at room temperature.
  2. The syrup can be reserved for other uses, like drizzling over pancakes or yogurt!
  3. Once cooled, enjoy them immediately or store them in an airtight container.

Notes

Keep them in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one week. Refrigerating may cause a loss of crunchiness. Avoid freezing to maintain texture.
