  • 1 cup California figs, chopped Use fresh or dried figs, chopped finely.
  • 1 cup pistachios, shelled and chopped Substitute with almonds or walnuts if needed.
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour Ensure it's fresh for best results.
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, softened At room temperature for easier mixing.
  • ¾ cup sugar Adjust for sweetness preference.
  • ½ teaspoon salt Balancing flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder Helps crisps rise.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and baking powder.
  4. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter mixture, mixing until just combined. Then fold in the chopped figs and pistachios gently.
  5. Take a tablespoon of dough and shape it into a ball. Place them onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, ensuring they are spaced apart. Flatten each ball slightly.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
  2. Allow the crisps to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week. For longer storage, freeze for up to three months.
