Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 pound ground beef Use lean ground beef for a healthier option.
  • 1 cup uncooked rice White rice is recommended, but brown rice can be used with adjusted cooking times.
  • 1 piece onion, chopped Any onion variety can be used.
  • 1 piece bell pepper, chopped Any color bell pepper can be used.
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced Fresh garlic adds more flavor.
  • 2 cups beef broth Ensure broth is at room temperature before adding.
  • 1 tablespoon Cajun seasoning Store-bought or homemade Cajun seasoning works well.
  • to taste Salt and pepper Adjust depending on your taste preference.
  • for garnish Chopped green onions Fresh herbs can also be used as topping.

Method

Cooking
  1. In a large skillet over medium heat, add the ground beef. Cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Use a spatula to break it apart. Drain excess fat if desired.
  2. Stir in the chopped onion, bell pepper, and minced garlic. Cook for about 3-4 minutes, or until the vegetables become tender.
  3. Stir in the uncooked rice and Cajun seasoning to build a flavorful base.
  4. Pour in the beef broth, season with salt and pepper, and bring it to a gentle boil.
  5. Reduce the heat to low, cover the skillet, and let it simmer for about 20 minutes, or until the rice is fluffy and cooked through, stirring occasionally.
  6. Once finished, remove from heat. Garnish with chopped green onions and serve hot. Enjoy!

Notes

Leftovers can last 3-4 days in the refrigerator. For longer storage, freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat by thawing overnight and warming on low heat, adding a splash of beef broth for moisture.
