  • 6 slices slices of bread (preferably whole grain or sourdough)
  • 8 large eggs
  • 2 cups milk
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or mozzarella work well)
  • 1/2 cup Halal sausage or alternatives (optional) Can be omitted or substituted.
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 cup melted butter

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cut the bread into small cubes and place them in a greased baking dish.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, salt, pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture over the bread cubes in the baking dish, ensuring all pieces are soaked.
  5. If using Halal sausage, sprinkle it on top, followed by the shredded cheese.
  6. Drizzle the melted butter over the entire casserole.
Baking
  1. Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for about 35-40 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the eggs are set.
  2. Let it cool for a few minutes before serving.

For ingredient substitutions, you can use different types of bread or almond milk for a dairy-free option. Adding vegetables like bell peppers, spinach, or mushrooms can enhance the nutrition.
