Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Make sure it’s at room temperature.
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract Ensure it's alcohol-free.
  • 2 tablespoons milk Or milk alternative if preferred.
  • a pinch salt To balance the sweetness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Gather all ingredients mentioned above. Make sure your butter is softened for easy mixing.
Mixing
  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter with an electric mixer on medium speed until it’s light and fluffy (approximately 2-3 minutes).
  2. Gradually add the powdered sugar, one cup at a time, beating on a low speed until it’s well combined.
  3. Once combined, add the vanilla extract, milk, and a pinch of salt. Beat the mixture on medium speed until it’s smooth and fluffy, about another 2-3 minutes. Taste the frosting—if it’s too sweet, add a little more salt to balance it out.
  4. If the frosting is too thick, you can add a little more milk, one teaspoon at a time, until you reach the desired consistency. If it’s too thin, simply add a bit more powdered sugar.
Frosting
  1. Now that your Buttercream Frosting is ready, use it to beautifully frost cakes, cupcakes, or cookies!

Notes

For perfect buttercream, ensure your butter is at room temperature and avoid overmixing to prevent a grainy texture. You can store leftover frosting in an airtight container for up to a week or freeze it for up to three months.
