Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) to warm up.
- In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain excess fat.
- Add chopped onion to the skillet and cook until translucent.
- Sprinkle salt and pepper over the mixture, and stir to combine. Optionally, add paprika.
Layering and Baking
- In a greased 9x13-inch baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes, then half of the ground beef mixture, and half of the shredded cheese. Repeat the layers.
- In a bowl, mix the cream of mushroom soup with milk until smooth. Pour evenly over the layers in the baking dish.
- Cover the dish with foil and bake for about 30 minutes. Uncover and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the potatoes are tender and cheese is bubbly.
- Let cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or freeze individual portions for up to 2-3 months. Reheat in the oven for best flavor.
