Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a bowl, combine the melted butter and sugar until smooth.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition.

Mixing
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined.
- If using, gently fold in chocolate chips or nuts.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the greased baking dish and smooth the top.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with a few moist crumbs.
Cooling and Serving
- Let the cake cool in the pan for about 10-15 minutes.
- Transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Slice and serve warm or at room temperature with your favorite toppings.
Notes
