Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 3 tablespoons unsalted butter (plus more for greasing)
  • 1 package (10 oz) mini marshmallows
  • 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt (optional)
Optional Toppings
  • melted chocolate For drizzling on top
  • sprinkles For extra decoration
  • drizzle of caramel Adds sweetness

Method

Preparation
  1. Prepare the Pan: Start by lining a 9×13-inch baking dish with parchment paper or greasing it with butter to prevent the treats from sticking.
  2. Brown the Butter: In a medium saucepan, add the unsalted butter and melt over medium heat, stirring continuously until it turns golden brown and emits a nutty aroma.
  3. Add Marshmallows: Once the butter is browned, immediately add the mini marshmallows and stir until they are completely melted and combined with the butter.
  4. Mix in Cereal: Remove the pot from the heat and add the Rice Krispies. Gently fold the cereal into the melted marshmallow mixture until evenly coated.
  5. Pour into the Pan: Transfer the mixture into your prepared baking dish. Use a spatula or your hands (with a bit of melted butter to prevent sticking) to press the mixture down evenly.
  6. Let Set: Allow the treats to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Once set, cut them into squares or bars.
  7. Enjoy: Serve your delicious creations to family and friends and enjoy the delightful flavors!

Notes

For a dairy-free option, you can use vegan butter or margarine. Keep an eye on the butter while browning to prevent burning, and don’t over-press the mixture into the pan to avoid hard treats. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week or freeze for up to three months.
