Ingredients

For the Cookies
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup brown sugar packed
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped pecans

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat, stirring constantly until it turns golden brown and gives off a nutty aroma. Remove from heat.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine brown sugar and granulated sugar. Add the brown butter and mix well.
  4. Add in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract, and mix until smooth.
  5. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking soda, and salt.
  6. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing just until combined.
  7. Fold in the chocolate chips and chopped pecans.
Baking
  1. Drop spoonfuls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden brown but the centers are still soft.
  3. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

For an extra touch, sprinkle with flaky sea salt before baking or drizzle with caramel after cooling.
