  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded Feel free to substitute with mozzarella or other cheese.
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 piece egg For vegan option, use flaxseed meal mixed with water.
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. If using fresh broccoli, steam it for 2-3 minutes until slightly tender; if using frozen, ensure it's thawed and drained.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the finely chopped broccoli, shredded cheddar cheese, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, egg, garlic powder, salt, and pepper. Mix until well blended.
  4. Shape the mixture into small bite-sized tots (about 1-2 tablespoons each) and place them on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through.
Serving
  1. Remove from the oven and let cool for a couple of minutes. Serve warm with your favorite dip or toppings.

Notes

For best results, avoid overcooking broccoli initially; it should be tender enough to mix easily. Store leftovers in an airtight container for 3-4 days, or freeze for up to 3 months. Reheat at 375°F (190°C) for 10 minutes.
