Preparation
- Start by gathering all your ingredients. Wash and dry the lettuce leaves and slice the tomatoes.
Assembling
- Take your slices of bread and spread butter on one side of each slice. If using mayonnaise, spread it on each slice.
- On the non-buttered side of one slice, layer your ingredients starting with lettuce, followed by tomato slices, deli meat, and cheese.
- Place the other slice of bread on top, buttered side facing out.
Cooking
- Heat a non-stick skillet over medium heat and place the sandwich in the skillet.
- Grill for about 3-4 minutes on each side, flipping carefully until both sides are golden brown and cheese has melted.
Serving
- Remove from skillet, cut in half, and serve warm.
Notes
Substitute different cheeses or breads. Avoid overstuffing the sandwich. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days. Reheat in a skillet for best results.
