Ingredients

Tart Ingredients
  • 1.5 cups fresh blueberries Use ripe and juicy blueberries for best flavor.
  • 1 pre-made tart shell tart shell (store-bought or homemade) Store-bought makes it quicker, homemade adds a personal touch.
  • 0.25 cups granulated sugar Adjust the sugar based on the sweetness of the berries.
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch Helps thicken the berry mixture.
  • 1 teaspoon Earl Grey tea leaves Use good quality tea for enhanced flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice Freshly squeezed lemon juice is recommended.
  • 0.5 teaspoon vanilla extract Pure vanilla extract will give the best flavor.
  • 1 tablespoon butter Preferably unsalted for better control over saltiness.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Place the pre-made tart shell on a baking sheet, or prepare your homemade tart shell.
  3. In a medium bowl, combine the blueberries, sugar, cornstarch, Earl Grey tea leaves, lemon juice, and vanilla extract. Gently toss to coat.
  4. Pour the blueberry mixture into the prepared tart shell and spread it evenly.
  5. Dot the top of the blueberry mixture with small pieces of butter.
Baking
  1. Bake the tart in the preheated oven for 30 minutes or until blueberries bubble and the crust is golden.
  2. Remove from the oven and allow to cool at room temperature for 15 minutes before slicing.
  3. Slice and serve warm or at room temperature, garnished with powdered sugar if desired.

Notes

For healthier alternatives, use honey or maple syrup instead of sugar. Be cautious not to overbake to keep the crust golden without burning. Pre-baking the tart shell can help avoid a soggy bottom.
