Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, combine the melted butter and brown sugar. Mix until smooth. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each, and then add vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually mix this into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- If using, gently fold in nuts or chocolate chips.
Baking
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan, smoothing the top. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until a toothpick comes out mostly clean.
- Let the brownies cool in the pan for 10 minutes before removing to a wire rack to cool completely.
- Once cool, cut into squares and serve.
Notes
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 4 days. They can also be frozen for up to 3 months. Thaw in the refrigerator and reheat in the microwave if desired.
