Preparation
- Wash the blackberries gently under cold water and allow them to drain in a colander. Set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt until well combined.
- Stir in the melted butter and milk. Mix just until the dough comes together; a few lumps are okay.
Cooking
- In a medium saucepan over medium heat, bring 1 cup of water to a gentle simmer.
- Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling dough onto the water's surface, carefully placing them apart.
- Spoon the blackberries over the dumplings. Cover the saucepan with a lid and cook for 10-12 minutes.
- Check for doneness; the dumplings should look shiny and bounce back when touched.
Serving
- Gently transfer the dumplings to a serving dish. Drizzle honey or sprinkle powdered sugar over the top for sweetness.
Notes
If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. They can also be frozen for about a month.
