  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened Ensure butter is softened, not melted.
  • 1 unit egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1 cup chocolate chips or nuts (optional) Feel free to customize with your favorite mix-ins.

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in the egg and vanilla extract until fully incorporated.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually add to the wet mixture and stir until combined.
  5. Fold in chocolate chips or nuts if using.
  6. Using a cookie scoop or spoon, drop small mounds of dough onto an ungreased baking sheet, leaving space for them to spread.
  7. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheet for a few minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Store cookies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 5 days, or in the refrigerator for up to a week. Reheat in the microwave for 15-20 seconds to restore gooey texture.
