Preparation
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, chopped onion, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning (if using).
- Using your hands, mix the ingredients gently until just combined. Be careful not to overmix; this may make the patties tough.
- Divide the mixture into four equal portions. Shape each portion into a patty, about 1/2 inch thick. Use your thumb to create a slight indentation in the center of each patty; this helps them cook evenly.
Cooking
- Heat the olive oil in a non-stick skillet over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the patties in the skillet.
- Cook for about 5-6 minutes on each side or until they are golden brown and cooked through (the internal temperature should reach 165°F).
Serving
- Once cooked, remove the patties from the skillet and let them rest for a minute. Serve the patties on buns or lettuce wraps with your favorite toppings!
Notes
To keep the patties juicy, avoid overcooking and experiment with spices for added flavor. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator or freeze for up to 3 months.
