Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt until no lumps remain.
- In a separate bowl, blend the melted butter with the eggs, red food coloring, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Grease an 8x8 inch baking pan or line with parchment paper. Pour the batter into the pan and spread it evenly.
Baking
- Place the pan in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow the brownies to cool before adding frosting, if desired.
Frosting and Serving
- Blend cream cheese and powdered sugar until smooth. Spread over cooled brownies if using.
- Cut into squares and serve.
Notes
Store remaining brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days, or refrigerate for about a week.
