- Start by using a rolling pin to flatten each slice of bread gently.
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, vanilla extract, sugar, and cinnamon until well-combined.
- Take a slice of the flattened bread, dip it into the egg mixture, coating it on all sides.
- Place a small spoonful of your desired filling at one end of the bread slice and roll it up tightly.
- In a skillet, heat a tablespoon of butter on medium heat. Once melted, add the roll-ups seam-side down.
- Cook until golden brown on each side, about 2-3 minutes per side.
- Transfer to a plate and serve warm with a drizzle of maple syrup.
Notes
Choose soft and fresh bread for best results. Challah or brioche works wonderfully. Experiment with different fillings and serve with toppings like fruit, whipped cream, or a dusting of powdered sugar.
