Ingredients

For the Cookie Dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened Ensure butter is at room temperature.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs Ensure eggs are at room temperature.
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt Adjust to taste.
  • 2 cups chocolate chips Use semi-sweet or dark chocolate chips.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar. Cream them together using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
  3. Beat in eggs one at a time, mixing thoroughly after each addition. Add the vanilla extract and mix until well incorporated.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredient mixture to the wet ingredients, mixing until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips until evenly distributed.
  7. Use a cookie scoop or a spoon to drop generous balls of dough onto a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  8. Bake for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are golden brown.
  9. Let cookies cool on the baking sheet for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
  10. Enjoy your cookies with a glass of milk or share with family and friends!

Notes

Chill the dough for about 30 minutes for a thicker cookie and don't overbake; they will continue to cook on the baking sheet.
