Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch cake pan or two 9-inch round cake pans.
- In a large mixing bowl, cream the softened butter and sugar together using an electric mixer until light and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the butter and sugar mixture, alternating with the milk. Start and finish with the dry ingredients and mix until just combined.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan(s) and spread it evenly.
Baking
- Bake for about 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cooling
- Let the cake cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely. Slice and enjoy!
Notes
For serving, pair with whipped cream and fresh berries, or drizzle with chocolate ganache. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to a week.
