Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (180°C).
- Grease a 9x13-inch baking pan or line it with parchment paper.
- In a medium saucepan over low heat, melt the unsalted butter and let it cool slightly.
- Stir in the granulated sugar into the cooled butter until smooth.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition.
- Stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, and salt, then fold into the wet mixture until just combined.
- Fold in chocolate chips if using.
- Pour the batter into the prepared pan and spread evenly.
Baking
- Bake for about 25-30 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out with a few moist crumbs.
- Allow to cool in the pan on a wire rack before slicing into squares.
Notes
For added richness, use high-quality chocolate. Store in an airtight container for up to 5 days or freeze for up to 3 months.
