Ingredients

Mushroom Filling
  • 12 large large mushrooms, stems removed
  • 1 pound ground beef (ensure it’s Halal-certified)
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Olive oil, for drizzling

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Clean the mushrooms with a damp cloth and carefully remove the stems. Set the caps aside and chop the stems finely.
  3. In a skillet, drizzle some olive oil and heat over medium. Add the chopped mushroom stems, onion, and garlic. Sauté for about 5 minutes, until softened.
  4. In a large bowl, combine the sautéed mixture with ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Mix well until the ingredients are fully combined.
  5. Generously fill each mushroom cap with the meat mixture, pressing down slightly.
Baking
  1. Arrange the stuffed mushrooms on a baking sheet. Drizzle a little olive oil over the tops for added flavor and moisture.
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the mushrooms are tender and the beef is cooked through.
  3. Remove from the oven and let them cool slightly before serving. Enjoy!

Notes

Consider using ground turkey as a Halal-friendly alternative. Allow the mushrooms to cool slightly before serving to avoid burns. Avoid overstuffing mushrooms to prevent bursting while baking. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for best results.
