Method
Cooking the Beef
- In a large skillet, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef, seasoning it with salt and pepper. Break it apart with a spatula and cook for approximately 5-7 minutes until browned and fully cooked. Drain any excess fat, if needed.
Adding the Veggies
- Toss in the diced onions and sliced bell peppers. Sauté for an additional 3-4 minutes until the veggies are tender but still a bit crisp.
Preparing the Tortillas
- On a flat surface, lay out your tortillas. Spread a tablespoon of pizza sauce on one half of each tortilla.
Assembling the Pizzadillas
- On top of the sauce, generously add the cooked beef mixture and sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese. Fold the tortilla over to create a half-moon shape.
Cooking the Pizzadillas
- In the same skillet, cook the folded tortillas for 3-4 minutes on each side over medium heat, or until golden brown and crispy. You may want to press down gently with a spatula to ensure even cooking.
Serving
- Slice each pizzadilla into wedges and serve warm, perhaps with some extra pizza sauce for dipping or your favorite halal hot sauce!
Notes
Feel free to swap the ground beef for ground lamb or chicken, ensuring that all meat is Halal-certified. Keep an eye on the tortillas while cooking to prevent them from becoming overly crispy. Do not overfill the tortillas to avoid mess.
