  • 1 pound ground beef Can substitute with ground turkey or chicken.
  • 1 can (15 ounces) tomato sauce Use any brand of tomato sauce you prefer.
  • 1 can (14.5 ounces) diced tomatoes

  • to taste Salt and pepper Season to your liking.
  • Grated to taste Parmesan cheese for serving For garnish.

Method

Preparation
  1. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add your choice of pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat a drizzle of oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent. Toss in the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  3. Increase the heat to medium-high and add the ground beef. Cook for 5-7 minutes, breaking it apart as it browns. Ensure it’s fully cooked with no pink remaining. Drain excess fat if necessary.
  4. Pour in the canned tomato sauce and diced tomatoes, along with the Italian seasoning, salt, and pepper. Stir well and bring to a gentle simmer for about 5 minutes.
  5. Add the cooked pasta to the skillet, stirring to coat it with the delicious sauce. Taste and adjust seasoning if needed.
  6. Garnish with freshly grated Parmesan cheese before serving hot.

Notes

Substitutions include ground turkey or chicken for a lighter dish. Add veggies like bell peppers or spinach for extra nutrition. Make sure not to overcook the pasta, and taste along the way for seasoning balance. Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3-4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
