  • 4-5 pounds beef brisket Make sure the cut is properly trimmed.
  • 2 tablespoons salt
  • 1 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1 tablespoon onion powder
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 2 leaves bay leaves
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 325°F (165°C).
  2. Pat the brisket dry with paper towels, then rub olive oil over the meat.
  3. Mix salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder in a small bowl. Massage the spice blend all over the brisket.
Cooking
  1. In a large, oven-safe pot, heat a little olive oil over medium-high heat and sear the brisket for 3-4 minutes on each side until browned.
  2. Pour the beef broth into the pot and add the bay leaves.
  3. Cover tightly with a lid or aluminum foil and transfer to the preheated oven.
  4. Roast for about 3-4 hours, or until the meat is tender.
  5. Remove from the oven and let the brisket rest for about 20 minutes before slicing.
  6. Slice against the grain and serve warm, drizzled with broth or gravy.

Notes

Leftover brisket can be stored in the refrigerator for up to four days. For longer storage, freeze for up to three months. Reheat in a covered dish at a low temperature.
