Ingredients

Main Ingredients
  • 1 block firm tofu Press the tofu to remove excess moisture.
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce Choose your favorite BBQ sauce.
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • to taste salt and pepper

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by placing your block of firm tofu on a plate lined with paper towels. Add another layer of paper towels on top and then weigh it down with a heavy object (like a cast-iron skillet). Let it press for about 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture.
  2. In a bowl, mix together the BBQ sauce, olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well until combined.
  3. Once pressed, cut the tofu into thick slices or cubes, depending on your preference.
  4. Add the tofu pieces to the marinade, making sure they are well-coated. Allow them to marinate for at least 10 minutes for optimal flavor.
Cooking
  1. Preheat your grill or a non-stick skillet over medium heat. If using a grill, lightly oil the grates.
  2. Place the marinated tofu on the grill or skillet and cook for about 5 minutes on each side or until golden and crispy.
  3. Brush more BBQ sauce on the tofu during the last minute of cooking for added flavor.
Serving
  1. Transfer your BBQ Tofu to a serving platter and enjoy it with your favorite sides!

Notes

If you're not a fan of BBQ sauce, feel free to substitute with teriyaki or sweet chili sauce for a unique flair. Ensure you press the tofu well for the best texture.
