Preparation
- Start by placing your block of firm tofu on a plate lined with paper towels. Add another layer of paper towels on top and then weigh it down with a heavy object (like a cast-iron skillet). Let it press for about 15-20 minutes to remove excess moisture.
- In a bowl, mix together the BBQ sauce, olive oil, garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Stir well until combined.
- Once pressed, cut the tofu into thick slices or cubes, depending on your preference.
- Add the tofu pieces to the marinade, making sure they are well-coated. Allow them to marinate for at least 10 minutes for optimal flavor.
Cooking
- Preheat your grill or a non-stick skillet over medium heat. If using a grill, lightly oil the grates.
- Place the marinated tofu on the grill or skillet and cook for about 5 minutes on each side or until golden and crispy.
- Brush more BBQ sauce on the tofu during the last minute of cooking for added flavor.
Serving
- Transfer your BBQ Tofu to a serving platter and enjoy it with your favorite sides!
Notes
If you're not a fan of BBQ sauce, feel free to substitute with teriyaki or sweet chili sauce for a unique flair. Ensure you press the tofu well for the best texture.
