Ingredients

For the Marinade
  • 1 cup BBQ sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp smoked paprika
  • to taste Salt and pepper
Main Ingredients
  • 4 pieces boneless, skinless chicken breasts Ensure they are thawed if frozen
  • Optional: fresh herbs for garnish

Method

Preparation
  1. In a bowl, combine the BBQ sauce, olive oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.
  2. Place the chicken breasts in a resealable plastic bag or a large bowl. Pour the marinade over the chicken, ensuring each piece is well-coated. Seal the bag or cover the bowl, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes (or ideally 2-4 hours).
Cooking
  1. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat or your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. For grilling, cook the chicken for about 6-7 minutes on each side, or until fully cooked and the internal temperature reaches 165°F (75°C). For baking, place the chicken on a lined baking sheet and bake for about 25-30 minutes, checking for doneness.
  3. Brush some extra BBQ sauce onto the chicken during the last few minutes of cooking.
  4. Once cooked, remove the chicken from the grill or oven, let it rest for a few minutes, and serve with your favorite sides.

Notes

For best results, marinate longer! Pair with creamy coleslaw, grilled corn, or baked beans. Use a meat thermometer for perfect cooking!
