Ingredients

For the Brownies
  • 2 pieces ripe bananas The riper the bananas, the sweeter the brownies.
  • 1 cup sugar Can substitute with honey or maple syrup for a healthier option.
  • 1/2 cup melted butter Can substitute with coconut oil.
  • 1 piece egg
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour Can use whole wheat flour for added fiber.
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips Can substitute with dried fruits or nuts.

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a mixing bowl, mash the two ripe bananas with a fork until smooth; a few lumps are okay!
  3. Add the melted butter to the bananas and stir until combined. Then, incorporate the sugar, egg, and vanilla extract, mixing until you have a smooth batter.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, baking soda, and salt. Mix these dry ingredients well before adding to the wet mixture.
  5. Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture. Mix until just combined; avoid overmixing.
  6. Gently fold in the chocolate chips into the batter.
  7. Pour the batter into a greased 8×8-inch baking dish, smoothing the top with a spatula.
  8. Place in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
  9. Allow the brownies to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack. Once cooled, cut into squares and serve!

Notes

Store the brownies in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, freeze them in a freezer-safe bag for up to 3 months. Thaw at room temperature or microwave for 15-20 seconds before serving.
