Ingredients

For the Cookie Dough
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (softened) Ensure butter is at room temperature for easy mixing.
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup light brown sugar (packed)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 0.5 teaspoon salt
  • 1.5 cups Oreo cookie crumbs (about 12 cookies)
  • 1 cup chocolate chips (halal-friendly)
  • 1 cup chopped Oreo pieces (for added texture)

Method

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) to ensure your cookies bake evenly.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy and well-combined.
  3. Incorporate the eggs, one at a time, mixing well. Then add in the vanilla extract and mix until smooth.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet ingredients, stirring until the dough starts to come together.
  5. Gently fold in the Oreo cookie crumbs, chocolate chips, and chopped Oreos until evenly distributed in the dough.
  6. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop balls of dough onto a parchment-lined baking sheet, leaving enough space between each for the cookies to spread.
Baking
  1. Place the sheets in the preheated oven and bake for 10-12 minutes, or until the edges are golden but the centers are still soft.
  2. Allow the cookies to cool on the cookie sheet for a few minutes before transferring them to wire racks to cool completely.

Notes

For an even chewier texture, chill the dough for about 30 minutes before baking. Experiment with adding crushed nuts, coconut flakes, or drizzled chocolate for a fun twist.
