- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your donut pan lightly with cooking spray or melted butter.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt. Whisk to ensure no lumps.
- In another bowl, mix the buttermilk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract until well combined.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined, being careful not to overmix; a few lumps are fine.
- Scoop the batter into the prepared donut pan, filling each cavity about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes or until the donuts are lightly golden and a toothpick comes out clean from the center.
- Let them cool in the pan for a few minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
For best results, let the donuts cool slightly before serving. You can substitute the buttermilk with a mix of milk and lemon juice if needed. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or refrigerate for up to a week.
