Ingredients
  

For the French Toast
  • 8 slices slices of bread (preferably brioche or challah) Use slightly stale bread for the best texture.
  • 2 cups strawberries, sliced Can substitute with other fruits like blueberries or raspberries.
  • 1 cup heavy cream Can substitute with half-and-half or Halal-certified plant-based creams.
  • 4 pieces eggs
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
  • Butter for greasing Use to grease the baking dish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with butter.
  3. Arrange the slices of bread in the greased baking dish, overlapping them slightly.
  4. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth.
  5. Gently fold in the sliced strawberries into the custard mixture.
  6. Pour the custard mixture evenly over the arranged bread and soak for about 10-15 minutes.
Baking
  1. Place the dish in the preheated oven and bake for 35-40 minutes, or until golden and set.
  2. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving.
  3. Serve with maple syrup or a sprinkle of powdered sugar, if desired.

Notes

For optimal results, use brioche or challah bread and ensure sufficient soaking time before baking. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 3 days.
