  • 2 cups milk
  • 4 large eggs Make sure not to overbeat.
  • 1/2 cup sugar Adjust sweetness if using different fruits.
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon almond extract
  • Butter For greasing the baking dish.

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Butter a baking dish (about 9×9 inches) generously.
  3. Place the pitted cherries evenly at the bottom of the greased baking dish.
Mixing Custard
  1. In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until well combined and slightly frothy.
  2. Add in the milk, vanilla extract, almond extract, and salt, whisking until everything is smooth and integrated.
Baking
  1. Carefully pour the custard mixture over the cherries in the baking dish.
  2. Place the baking dish in your preheated oven and bake for about 35-40 minutes, or until the custard is set in the center.
  3. Once baked, let the custard cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for about 3-4 days. Reheat in the microwave or oven.
