Ingredients
  

For the onion rings
  • 2 large large onions, sliced into rings
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko preferred) For extra crunch
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your favorite cheese)
  • Cooking spray

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Slice the onions into rings, aiming for rings about ½ inch thick.
  3. In a shallow bowl, combine flour, garlic powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Dip each onion ring in the flour mixture, then in the beaten eggs, and finally roll in the breadcrumbs mixed with shredded cheese.
  5. Spray a baking sheet with cooking spray, then arrange the coated onion rings on the sheet.
Baking
  1. Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes or until golden brown and crispy, flipping halfway through.
Serving
  1. Let the onion rings cool slightly before serving. Enjoy fresh with your favorite dipping sauce.

Notes

For extra crunch, use panko breadcrumbs. Experiment with different cheeses for unique flavors. Check often towards the end of baking to avoid burning.
