Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a donut pan.
- In a mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Whisk until mixed.
- In another bowl, melt the unsalted butter. Mix in apple cider, egg, and vanilla extract. Stir until well combined.
- Slowly pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined.
- Using a piping bag or spoon, fill each donut cavity about 2/3 full with the batter.
Baking
- Place the donut pan in the preheated oven and bake for 15-18 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted comes out clean.
- Let the donuts cool in the pan for about 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack.
Finishing Touches
- If desired, glaze or sprinkle with cinnamon sugar before serving.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days, refrigerate for a week, or freeze for up to 3 months. To reheat, microwave for 10-15 seconds or bake at 350°F for 5 minutes.
