Ingredients
  

For the Crust
  • 2.5 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (chilled and cubed)
  • 0.5 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 6-8 tbsp cold water Add until dough comes together.
For the Filling
  • 6 cups peeled apple slices (preferably Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 2 tbsp lemon juice
  • 0.25 cups all-purpose flour
For the Crumb Topping
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cups brown sugar (packed)
  • 0.5 cups unsalted butter (melted)
  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, and salt. Add the chilled butter and mix using your fingers or a pastry cutter until it resembles coarse crumbs.
  3. Gradually add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, until the dough comes together. Press the dough into a greased baking sheet, ensuring an even layer.
  4. In another bowl, toss the apple slices with sugar, cinnamon, flour, and lemon juice. Spread the apple mixture evenly over the crust.
  5. In a bowl, mix together the flour, brown sugar, melted butter, and cinnamon until crumbly. Sprinkle the mixture generously over the apples.
Baking
  1. Place the slab pie in the oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
  2. Allow the pie to cool for at least 15 minutes before slicing.
Serving
  1. Serve warm or at room temperature, and enjoy!

Notes

Serve with vanilla ice cream, whipped cream, or custard. It can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for 3-4 days or frozen for up to 3 months.
