  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 cups diced apples Any variety of apples can be used.
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
Topping Ingredients
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup rolled oats

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, cream the softened butter until smooth.
  4. Add the milk and eggs to the creamed butter and mix until well combined.
  5. Gradually pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients, stirring gently until just combined.
  6. Fold in the diced apples.
Topping and Baking
  1. In a small bowl, combine brown sugar, rolled oats, and cinnamon for the topping.
  2. Pour the batter into a greased 9x13-inch baking dish and spread the oat topping evenly over the batter.
  3. Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  4. Let the cake cool for a few minutes before slicing and serving warm.

Notes
