Ingredients

Dough Ingredients
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 packet instant yeast (about 2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk Warmed slightly
  • 1/4 cup water Warmed slightly
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 large egg
Filling Ingredients
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 2 medium apples, peeled and diced
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar

Method

Prepare the Dough
  1. In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
  2. In another bowl, warm the milk and water slightly, then whisk in the melted butter and egg.
  3. Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
Knead the Dough
  1. On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
  2. Place it in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm environment until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
Prepare the Filling
  1. While the dough is rising, mix together the diced apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl.
Roll and Fill
  1. Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4-inch thick.
  2. Spread the apple mixture evenly over the dough, then roll it up tightly, starting from one end.
  3. Pinch the seams to seal.
Cut and Rise
  1. Cut the rolled dough into 1-inch thick slices and place them in a greased baking dish, leaving space for them to rise.
  2. Cover the dish with a damp cloth and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve
  1. Allow the rolls to cool slightly, then drizzle with icing if desired.

Notes

For perfect rolls, ensure your kitchen is warm for optimal dough rising. Substitute whole wheat flour for a nuttier flavor or use bee-friendly sweeteners for a healthier option.
