Ingredients
Method
Prepare the Dough
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, sugar, instant yeast, and salt.
- In another bowl, warm the milk and water slightly, then whisk in the melted butter and egg.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients, mixing until a dough forms.
Knead the Dough
- On a floured surface, knead the dough for about 5-7 minutes until it becomes smooth and elastic.
- Place it in a greased bowl, cover it with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm environment until doubled in size (about 1 hour).
Prepare the Filling
- While the dough is rising, mix together the diced apples, brown sugar, and cinnamon in a bowl.
Roll and Fill
- Once the dough has risen, punch it down and roll it out on a lightly floured surface into a rectangle about 1/4-inch thick.
- Spread the apple mixture evenly over the dough, then roll it up tightly, starting from one end.
- Pinch the seams to seal.
Cut and Rise
- Cut the rolled dough into 1-inch thick slices and place them in a greased baking dish, leaving space for them to rise.
- Cover the dish with a damp cloth and let the rolls rise for another 30 minutes.
Bake
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown.
Serve
- Allow the rolls to cool slightly, then drizzle with icing if desired.
Notes
For perfect rolls, ensure your kitchen is warm for optimal dough rising. Substitute whole wheat flour for a nuttier flavor or use bee-friendly sweeteners for a healthier option.
