Preparation
- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Whisk until blended.
- Drop in the cubed, chilled unsalted butter. Mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- Gently fold in the chopped apples until evenly distributed.
- In another bowl, mix the milk and honey together. Slowly pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and gently knead it a couple of times until it holds together. Pat it into a 1-inch thick rectangle and cut out rounds.
- Place the rounds on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper and bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
Glazing
- While the biscuits bake, melt the unsalted butter in a saucepan. Stir in the powdered sugar and remaining honey until smooth.
- Once the biscuits are out of the oven, brush them generously with the honey butter glaze while they're still warm.
Notes
To make the biscuits healthier, you can substitute half of the all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour or use coconut oil instead of butter. Store any leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3-4 days or freeze for up to 3 months. To reheat, warm in the oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 10 minutes.
