Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9x13 inch baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt. Stir until evenly mixed.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, melted butter, eggs, and vanilla extract.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until no dry flour remains, being careful not to overmix.
- For the topping, mix together the brown sugar and ground cinnamon in a small bowl.
- Spread the batter evenly in the greased baking dish and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture over the top.
Baking
- Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before slicing into squares and enjoy warm.
Notes
For perfect results, avoid overmixing the batter and check for doneness at the 30-minute mark. For substitutions, use equal parts granulated sugar and a touch of molasses for brown sugar. Store in an airtight container for up to 3 days at room temperature or freeze for up to 3 months.
