  • 1 pound ground beef (preferably 80% lean)
  • 1/2 cup breadcbs For moisture
  • 1 small onion, finely chopped
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce (optional)
  • to taste Salt and pepper
For the Gravy
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup (low-fat option available)
For the Topping
  • 4 cups mashed potatoes (cooked)
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (optional, for topping) Add for extra flavor

Method

Preparation
  1. Start by gathering all your ingredients. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcbs, chopped onion, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Shape the mixture into four patties.
Cooking
  1. In a skillet over medium heat, sear the burger patties for about 3-4 minutes on each side until browned. This locks in the juicy flavors!
  2. Once the patties are browned, remove them from the skillet. In the same pan, pour in the beef broth and stir in the cream of mushroom soup. Bring to a simmer.
  3. Layer the burger steaks in a large baking dish and pour the gravy mixture over the top. Spread the cooked mashed potatoes evenly on top of the gravy. If you’re feeling cheesy, sprinkle some shredded cheese over the potatoes.
  4. Cover with foil and bake in the preheated oven for about 25-30 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld beautifully.
Serving
  1. Once out of the oven, let it cool slightly, and then serve this comforting dish with your favorite sides!

Notes

Serve with steamed green beans or a light garden salad for added freshness. Customize with herbs for more flavor.
