Preparation
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until well combined.
- Slowly add the milk, vanilla extract, and salt, mixing until smooth.
- Pour the custard mixture into a greased 9-inch square baking dish or individual ramekins if preferred.
Baking
- Place the baking dish in a larger pan filled with hot water (about half an inch deep).
- Bake in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes, or until the custard is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
Serving
- Remove the custard from the water bath and allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving.
- Optionally, sprinkle some nutmeg or cinnamon on top for added flavor.
Notes
Leftover custard can be refrigerated for up to 3-4 days or frozen for up to 2 months. To reheat, thaw in the fridge overnight and gently warm in the microwave or oven.
