  • 4 large large eggs
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 cups milk Room temperature is preferred for smoother texture.
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
Optional Toppings
  • to taste nutmeg or cinnamon For sprinkling on top before serving.

Preparation
  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs and sugar until well combined.
  3. Slowly add the milk, vanilla extract, and salt, mixing until smooth.
  4. Pour the custard mixture into a greased 9-inch square baking dish or individual ramekins if preferred.
Baking
  1. Place the baking dish in a larger pan filled with hot water (about half an inch deep).
  2. Bake in the preheated oven for 40-50 minutes, or until the custard is set and a knife inserted in the center comes out clean.
Serving
  1. Remove the custard from the water bath and allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving.
  2. Optionally, sprinkle some nutmeg or cinnamon on top for added flavor.

Notes

Leftover custard can be refrigerated for up to 3-4 days or frozen for up to 2 months. To reheat, thaw in the fridge overnight and gently warm in the microwave or oven.
