Ingredients
  

Dry Ingredients
  • 1.75 cups all-purpose flour
  • 0.75 cups unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1.5 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon salt
Wet Ingredients
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup whole milk can be substituted with almond milk
  • 0.5 cups vegetable oil
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
For the Batter
  • 1 cup boiling water incorporate carefully

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt until well mixed.
  3. Add the eggs, milk, vegetable oil, and vanilla extract to the dry mixture. Beat on medium speed for about 2 minutes.
  4. Carefully stir in the boiling water; the batter will be thin.
Baking
  1. Pour the batter evenly into the prepared pans.
  2. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
Cooling
  1. Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes before transferring them to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Ensure all ingredients are at room temperature for the best results. Wrap leftover cake in plastic wrap and refrigerate for up to 5 days, or freeze for longer storage.
